Have you noticed the bunting garland in Marco's nursery? Oh do I love bunting flags! They are so cute and cheerful...

As I've told you our garland was handmade by me and my mum. Would you like to create one yourself?

Bunting is perfect for a baby room, or your studio or the kitchen maybe, great indoor and ideal for outdoor decor in your garden or terrace, pretty if you choose just one or two colors (or sophisticated neutrals...) but also if you mix mismatched colors and patterns...

In two words: a must have! :)

So follow my easy tutorial and DO IT YOURSELF!

Ciao! Avete notato la ghirlanda di bandierine nella stanza di Marco? Io le adoro! Le bandierine mi mettono sempre allegria, mi fanno pensare ad una fiera campestre o a un luna park vintage...

Come vi dicevo la nostra ghirlanda è stata fatta a mano da me e dalla mia mamma. Perché non provate anche voi?

Le ghirlande di bandierine sono perfette per abbellire una nursery o il vostro studio o persino la cucina, sono ideali anche per decorare i vostri spazi all'aperto, bellissime se scegliete di accostare solo uno o due colori (o magari colori neutri come crema o grigio...) ma favolose anche se mescolate i colori e le fantasie più disparate...

Insomma, non se ne può proprio fare a meno! :)

Quindi seguite il mio semplice tutorial e FATELE ANCHE VOI!

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

Fabric scraps. If you're like me you probably have stashes of them: well, this is finally the moment to put them at some use! As said you could even create a garland using colorblock fabric but personally I prefer mixing patterned fabric. Choosing the right fabric is probably the most important (and fun!) phase of this project.
Ribbon. Longer than you want your garland to be. I suggest you to choose a cotton ribbon at least 3 cm high and easy to fold in half.
Sewing machine. (Or if you have time you could sew by hand).
Iron and ironing board.
Paper, ruler, pencil, scissors.

OCCORRENTE:

Ritagli di stoffa. Se come me siete incapaci di buttare via gli avanzi, ne avete sicuramente da parte tonnellate: è giunto il momento di utilizzarli! Come vi dicevo, potete anche scegliere di creare una ghirlanda usando tessuti tinta unita ma personalmente preferisco l'accostamento di fantasie diverse anche a contrasto. La scelta delle stoffe più adatte è probabilmente la fase più importante e divertente dell'intero progetto.
Fettuccia. Un po' più lunga di quanto dovrà essere la vostra ghirlanda. Vi consiglio di sceglierla in cotone o grosgrain, alta almeno 3 cm e semplice da piegare in due al centro.
Macchina da cucire. (O potete cucire a mano ma ci metterete un bel po' di tempo...).
Ferro da stiro.
Carta, righello, matita, forbici.

PROCESS:

Draw a triangle on paper. Cut it out and use it as guide to trace and cut triangles in the fabric, leaving approx 1 cm of margin.

Sew 2 triangles on the wrong side following the lines of the sides of the triangle. Leave the base of the triangle open. If you're going to hang the garland on the wall I suggest you to use a white fabric or one that you don't like so much for the back of each flag.

Turn the flag right side out. Iron carefully.

(Left: front - Right: back)

(Sinistra: davanti - Destra: dietro)

PROCEDIMENTO:

Disegnate un triangolo sulla carta e ritagliatelo. Usatelo come guida per tracciare triangoli sul tessuto e ritagliateli lasciando circa 1 cm di margine.

Cucite due triangoli al rovescio seguendo le linee dei lati. Lasciate aperta la base. Se - come ho fatto io - appenderete la ghirlanda in modo che si vedrà un solo lato, vi consiglio di usare per il retro della bandierina una fodera bianca bianca o comunque una stoffa che non vi piace tanto.

Rivoltate al dritto la bandierina cucita e stiratela accuratamente.

Once you have enough flags ready, arrange them on the ribbon, fold the ribbon in half and pin. Sew the ribbon through its entire length.

Una volta preparate abbastanza bandierine, disponetele sulla fettuccia, piegate la fettuccia in due e fermate con gli spilli.

Procedete ad un'unica cucitura per fissare le bandierine per tutta la lunghezza della fettuccia.

Finished! Now all you have to do is hang your lovely garland!

Ecco fatto! Ora non vi resta che appendere la vostra deliziosa ghirlanda!

Ciao Suze (è questo il tuo nome?), sono tua follower, ma non commento mai. Devo dire che la nursery di Marco mi è piaciuta moltissimo e anche il bunting è bellissimo! Adoro anche tutti i tuoi lavori di grafica e ne ho scaricati un po' in attesa di compleanni e feste varie!
