Our weekend in Tuscany

Hello!
Hope you've had a weekend as nice as ours: we were in Tuscany for almost 4 days for a totally relaxing break.
(My car)
This is the third year we book tickets for an event at Lucca Summer Festival. This time it was James Blunt in concert but actually the concerts are kind of an "excuse" for us to organize a few days staying in Tuscany. This year we even had a free hotel night to take advantage of, that my man got as present from a business partner, so in Lucca we stayed at a four star hotel just outside the city. We rented a couple of bikes and we went straight to spectacular Piazza Napoleone for a quick dinner in a open air pub and then the concert.

The day after we simply wandered in Lucca.
We already knew the city so no churches and no museums for us this time, just walking around in the perfect sunny morning, enjoying this city that once again I found utterly beautiful and full of secret corners to explore. If you're ever in Tuscany and you've never been there, you really shouldn't miss it, personally I like it better than Florence itself.

It's one of the things I love the most to get lost together in such an amazing soothing place, with nothing more urgent to do than stop by an antiques books and prints stall...
...or find a cute old "osteria" for a lazy lunch...

In the afternoon we moved to the second stop of our mini-trip: Villa San Simone, an historical country villa on the hills around Pistoia. The villa has been restored and decorated by the owners, a couple of architechts. The view is impressive and the property is an oasis of silence and peace, immersed in olive trees and pines...

We were so lucky to get a huge suite apartment instead of the regular double room we were expecting! Spacious living room with sofas and dinner table, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom... (Much bigger than our old apartment actually...)

We've visited Pistoia (and tomorrow I'll show you pics of a very special "bottega" where I did some shopping, I think many of you will recognize it...) and we went to the nearby Prato because I want to visit the local Textile Museum since ages but unfortunately it was closed...
Relax...
A splendid weekend spent with a splendid person...
Now I'm back to everyday life, with a ton of things to do and a rather big backlog of work... But still happy.
And what about you? What did you do in the weekend? What's your favorite place for a mini-break?
