Leo's 2nd birthday party: vintage hot air baloons and flying machines
By Suze on Jun 27, 2011 | In About Me, Home Decor, Design, Photo, Illustration, Handmade, PORTFOLIO
Hello and happy monday! Few weeks ago baby Leonardo celebrated his 2nd birthday (do you remember his sweet circus themed party last year?) and again I was excited to be asked to create invitiations and stationery for the event.

The birthday boy and daddy
The theme: hot air baloons, planes, flying machines with a subtle vintage accent. The palette: shades of aqua and yellow.
The location: the venue is in the Bologna hills countryside
The host: Leonardo's mum, ie one of the most popular and talented indie wedding and party planners in Italy: Laura aka Miss Trendinozze.
The team: Alessandra from Almalu's Place has created the a.m.a.z.i.n.g. desserts and part of the lovely paper decorations (soon on her blog the DIY tutorial!). Federica from Sweet as a Candy has photographed the event in her unique style.

The invitation
My stationery included: invitation, decorative labels for the envelope, cupcake toppers, tags for the buffet, happy birthday poster, packaging for the "flying" party favors. I've used some really pretty vintage illustrations from a couple of different premium and free sources and mixed them with basic patterns to match the fabrics Laura chose for the decor. The fonts and the text layout are slightly inspired to early '900 style.

The party favors packaging

I love, love, love this cake! Inside: chocolate!

Did you see yet all the beautiful images of this party on Trendinozze, Almalu's Place, Sweet as a Candy or Birthday Girl (yay!)?

Happy birthday!
