Gemma's Owl Party Dessert Table

Hello! As promised, I'm here to show you something cute: my friend Elena did it again and organized an adorable party for her little Gemma first birthday and I've had the plaesure of designing the stationery and attend the party. The theme chosen by Elena was owls, also in honor of Gemma's dad, Gabriele, a real owl lover who has a quite impressive collection of owls figurines and statuettes and all around their house.

So first of all I've designed the owlet charcter and chosen a forest-inspired palette but with very muted colors, and then came all the elements with the little guy. The party decor included: invitation, garland, cupcake toppers, tags for the dessert table and for the drinks bottles, the cake toppers, masks (yes masks!) to cut out and attach to a string, a big welcome sign and a big poster with 12 photos of beautiful Gemma, one for each month of her first year (you can see it in behind the dessert table).

Elena did the the rest, creating the beautiful and YUMMY themed desserts, all based on berries and chocolate, and adding as decor pretty wood logs (lately very much on fashion, love them!), pine branches and leaves. She's a professional confectioner and runs a tiny amazing boutique selling tea, coffee and sweet treats (I will show you pictures soon) so you can imagine how great the results were.

I couldn't go to the party without a present, of course and part of my present was a "one of a kind" rompers with her owlet on it.

Gemma has agreed I'd share with you friends this little gift. At the bottom of this post you can download for free the Baby Owl iron-on transfer motive I've used for her birthday present and you can iron it on a T-shirt or on a tote bag or whatever your creativity suggests. It's ok both for baby girls and baby boys, but also for grown up owl-lovers, I think. :)

Just few "how to" words:

Print using your normal color home printer on good quality iron-on transfer paper. Personally for this project I've used this one with pretty good results.

Note that there's basically 2 types of this special paper, one for white/light coloured fabrics and the other for dark colors fabric.

(Be aware that the colors of the design as you see it on screen very likely tend to be much lighter when transfered with this paper, at least on a white fabric).

Cut the owl design along the thin gray outline, leaving the blank margin. You can also add the two little berry bushes if you want.

Follow CAREFULLY all the instructions provided with the paper. It's not the easiest thing ever, but I bet the results will make you happy. :)

Ciao a tutti! Come promesso eccomi qui per mostrarvi un evento molto carino.

La mia amica Elena ha colpito ancora e ha organizzato per il primo compleanno della sua piccola Gemma una festa davvero adorabile. Il tema scelto sono stati i gufi, anche in onore di Gabriele, il papà di Gemma, che è un collezionista di gufi e gufetti: li ha sparsi per tutta la loro casa. Io ho avuto il piacere di realizzare il design della party stationery e anche di essere invitata alla festa e ora vi racconto un po'.

Prima di tutto ho creato il personaggio del gufetto (con gli occhioni spalancati, ma anche in versione assonnato e in versione "matto") e ho scelto una palette ispirata a l bosco, ma con colori tenui, spenti o pastello. Poi ho preparato tutti gli elementi che includevano: invito, ghirlanda, cupcake toppers, etichette per il buffet e le bottiglie, il centro-torta, maschere (!) da ritagliare e legare con un nastrino, un grande cartellone di benvenuto, un grande poster con 12 foto della bellissima Gemma, una per ogni mese di questo suo primo anno (lo vedete dietro il tavolo dei dolci nella prima foto in alto).

Elena a fatto il resto. E' una pasticcera semi-professionista e gestisce una piccola meravigliosa boutique che vende tè, caffè, caramelle, cioccolata e altre delizie, quindi è una vera esperta nel campo. La tavola era decorata con bellissimi ciocchi di legno (ultimamente vado pazza per questo trend di decorazioni e centrotavola), rami e foglie. E i dolci, basati su frutti di bosco e cioccolato erano straordinari: cupcakes alla nocciola e al cioccolato, anche a forma di gufo (!), mini-cakes al lampone e cioccolato, crema di yogurt ai frutti di bosco e cioccolato bianco, torta meringata cuor di lampone... Una meraviglia! E io mi sono innamorata della piccola dolcissima Gemma. Ancora auguri!

Naturalmente non potevo presentarmi alla festa senza qualche regalino e uno di questi è il body "one of a kind" che ho preparato per Gemma con il suo gufetto stampato.

Gemma ha acconsentito che condividessi con voi questo piccolo regalo e qui sotto potete scaricare gratuitamente il gufetto da stampare su carta a trasferimento termico e stirare su una T-Shirt o una borsa di tela o qualsiasi cosa vi suggerisca la fantasia. E' adatto sia a bimbe che maschietti ma anche per appassionati di gufi di tutte le età direi!

Giusto due parole di consigli:

Usate una normale stampante casalinga e una buona carta iron-on transfer (io personalmente per questo progetto ho usato questa con risultati mi pare abbastanza buoni, ma ce ne sono altre in commercio). Ricordatevi che esistono sostanzialmente due tipi di carta iron-on transfer: uno per tessuti bianchi o chiari e l'altro per tessuti scuri.

I colori del motivo che vedete a schermo verranno più chiari o molto più chiari una volta trasferiti con questo tipo di carta su un tessuto chiaro.

Ritagliate il gufetto lungo il sottile contorno grigio, lasciando il margine vuoto. Potete anche aggiungere i due piccoli cespugli di bacche.

Seguite ATTENTAMENTE le istruzioni fornite con la carta. Non è il lavoro più semplice del mondo, ma neanche difficile e sono sicura che i risultati vi ripagheranno! (Mi raccomando, se usate questo motivo mandatemi una foto, che sono curiosissima!)
